How to find great LGBTQ Gay Lesbian Trans Hookups

Lex is about finding all sorts of connections in the queer community, and of course hookups are one of them. But since the feed has all kinds of posts these days - groups, clubs, friends, housing - how can you make sure you can find the people you’re looking for? How can you unlock horny Lex?

We put together some tips based on our current set of features to help you make the most out of Lex and find the hot, fun, safe queer hookups you’ve been looking for. Let’s get into it!

Set up your profile to perfection

First off, you’ve got to make sure your profile is looking flawless. While it’s not required to have a picture of yourself, putting one goes a long way in making folks feel confident they’re interacting with a real human. Plus, good connections are all about honesty, right? Choose a picture that makes you feel confident and like yourself. You can also link your Instagram page if you want to share extra pictures. Some people make dedicated insta pages for this very purpose! So if you don’t want to share thirst traps on the Insta account your mom follows, you can have one just for your Lex crushes to peruse.

Pick your sexuality, gender, and relationship type next - all of these either have write-in options or have some extra space for flavor text. Partnered but looking for something fun? Put it in your profile!

Then, fill out your prompts! Our advice is keep them flirty, succinct, direct, and open-ended. People respond well when there’s an easy question to ask or answer. Have fun with it! You can change these up often so they’re feeling fresh and you aren’t answering the same question over and over again.

Last, select your ‘let’s meet up…’ options - this will make is super easy for cuties to message you. Let the world of Lex know what you’re looking for! Friends? Dates? Just hookups?

With a strong profile, you’ve set the stage for some fun interactions on the app.

Collect inspo on the feed

We recommend doing a little market research before you start posting (unless you already have a post draft in your head, in which case - bombs away, babe!). Tap on the ‘Hookups’ filter in the feed to find posts that inspire you. What are people asking for? What’s the tone? How are people replying or reacting? What looks like fun, and what makes you cringe? In order to draw the attention of people you want to flirt with, it’s helpful to know how they’re communicating their desires.

Say exactly what you’re looking for

Now that you’ve prepped your profile and done a little research on the types of posts you like, it’s time to write a killer post. Be confident, be bold, be direct. The more you lean into the original personals format, the more engagement you’ll probably get. People are hungry for high-quality, clever Lex posts - give them what they want! If you’re up for making the first move, encourage people to truck react if they’re shy but interested. They’ll be into your confidence and you’ll already know they’re interested. Just make sure you tag your post with ‘Hookups’ so the right people can find you. It’s also out of respect for folks who don’t want to engage with sexual content on Lex!

Keep an open mind

Lex is designed for you to put words before looks. You’re not swiping for a reason! If you’re attracted to someone’s energy, follow that & let yourself be surprised. While it’s essential to respect your own boundaries and needs, open yourself up to the possibility that someone who isn’t your usual ‘type’ might be an incredible connection. You never know! And when it comes to preferences, edit your post before sharing something that might be exclusionary towards a marginalized group. Society has moved past the need for needless discrimination. Being inclusive & respectful toward your local queers is hot!

Join a queer hookups/cruising group

On top of posting, why not join one of the many horny group chats on Lex? Even if you join just to lurk, it’s a great way to mingle with other people looking for the same things as you. There are groups on Lex for everything from kink to cruising. Whatever you’re looking for, there are other people out there who’ve made a group chat about it. Get in there and get mingling!

Safety precautions

We’d be remiss not to recommend some safety measures to take before you meet a hookup. While we tend to feel safer connecting with other queer people, strangers are still strangers, and the internet is still the internet! Consider a quick Facetime before meeting up with someone new; it can double as a safety check and a way to see if you have chemistry beyond the DM’s. You can also suggest a public spot to meet up first, to check the vibes before going somewhere private together (need a bar recommendation? We’ve got you covered). Last, make sure you let a pal know where you’re going. Either text them or share your location to ensure you have someone looking out for you.
